St. John's Home & School
Association
Welcome
to the 2002-2003 school year from St. John's Home
& School Association officers. We are eager
to begin the new school year! We have come up with
a theme for the school this year: "Come Grow
With Us." We have many new officers this year,
and along with new officers come new ideas. We are
very excited to share them with you, so please mark
your calendars and plan on attending the Home &
School Association meetings. Participation
will be one of the keys to our theme being a success!
The Home & School
Association is the equivalent to a PTA at other
schools. We are all volunteers serving one or two
year terms to assist the students, teachers, staff
and families at St. John's. The board members meet
monthly throughout the school year. There are four
general meetings that all parents are strongly encouraged
to attend.

NU Days NU
Days are non-uniform days. The students are allowed
to wear street clothes that comply with the guidelines
in the Student Handbook. There is not any correlation
with Nebraska University or Husker apparel on this
day. However, as we are all Husker fans at some
level, Husker apparel within the guidelines is acceptable.
Drop-off and Pick-up
lines Supervision of students at St. John's will begin at 7:45 a.m.
Students
may arrive at school at this time and will remain outside near the East
doors until 7:55 a.m. In case of inclement weather, students will move to
the entrance inside the east doors. At 7:55, students will enter the
building and proceed to their classrooms. Students should go straight to
their homeroom/classroom. Attendance is taken at 8:00 a.m. If a student
is walking a younger child to the classroom on a regular basis, please let
the teachers know. Students will be counted tardy if they are not in the
room by 8:05 a.m.
No passing is allowed at either
drop-off or pick-up to ensure student safety. If
you wish to walk in with your student, you are asked
to park in the lot east of the school. There are
two separate after school pick-up lines: one for
single child pick-up in front of the church and
one for multiple children pick-up by the gym and
social hall entrances. Please remember to pull your
car completely forward in either line to facilitate
quicker pick-up of all the children.
Are Volunteers
Needed at the School? YES!
Lunchroom volunteers are needed to work from 11:10-12:30
to assist the kids by opening milk cartons, clearing
trays, and wiping down tables. Please call Julia Lantz (489-0103) if you are able to help in the
lunchroom.
Room parents are
needed for each classroom. The room parents' main
responsibility is to plan and host each of the three
holiday parties for their class. We need volunteers
for various other jobs including snow removal, general
grounds work, and school cleanings. Our volunteer coordinators are Joyce Policy (464-8280) and Delynn Ellis (467-1086). Any
time and talents you have to share with us are greatly
appreciated!
