The First Station:
Jesus Is Condemned To Death

As God's own people we have Christ as our head. He delivered Himself up for our sins. In accepting a cruel death He won for us the right to eternal bliss with God our Father.

A weak and unscrupulous judge sentences an innocent man to death. Jesus, whose only "crime" was his loving care for all he met, is marked for execution with two common criminals.

Injustice is not limited to this specific case long ago in a distant city. We know that millions today suffer from injustice of one kind or other. As in the days of Jesus, courts and judges sometimes do not advance the cause of justice but make matters worse.

Prayer
Lord, I too sometimes feel "condemned"... sentenced to a life which I never really anticipated. Things seldom have worked out the way I hoped and planned. Help me to see your plan in my life even if it is different from my own. Help me to realize that you indeed "write straight with crooked lines."
