V - We adore You, O Christ, and bless You.
+ - Because by Your holy cross You have redeemed the world.
My Jesus, the heavy burden of my sins is on You, and bears You down
beneath the cross. I loathe them, I detest them; I call on You to pardon them; by Your
grace aid me never more to commit them.
Our Father.... Hail Mary.... Glory Be to the Father....
V - Jesus Christ Crucified.
+ - Have mercy on Us.
V - May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, Rest in peace.
+ - Amen.
Christ above in torment hangs She
beneath beholds the pangs Of her dying, glorious Son.

The Third Station: Jesus falls the First time
Beneath the Cross
The
only safe way to the promised land is the way of the cross.
As pilgrims here, we retrace the same path Christ trod for our
salvation. Through trial and afflication we go forward with
eyes fixed on our heavenly goal.
The
long journey to Calvary begins. Suddenly his legs buckle under
the weight of the cross, and Jesus slumps to the ground.
The
weakness and fall of Jesus were caused by the inhuman treatment
he received from his captors. Just as humiliating, however,
is the weakness suffered by the elderly who fall beneath the
weight of their years and ills. Yet, often are they overlooked
and left to languish and die in isolation.
Prayer Lord,
I thank you for the health you have given me and the fact that
I can praise you this day. I am very grateful. Please help me
to be more sensitive to the needs of the older persons in my
life and protect me from a joyless old age when my powers fail.
