V - We adore You, O Christ, and bless You.
+ - Because by Your holy cross You have
redeemed the world.

My tender Jesus, Who didst deign to print
Your sacred face upon the cloth with which Veronica wiped the sweat from off Your
brow, print in my soul deep, I pray to You,
the lasting memory of Your bitter pains.

Our Father.... Hail Mary.... Glory be
to the Father....

V - Jesus Christ Crucified.
+ - Have mercy on Us.
V - May the souls of the faithful departed,
through the mercy of God, Rest in peace.
+ - Amen.

Bruised, denided, cursed, defiled,
She beheld her tender Child
All with bloody scourges rent.

The Sixth Station:
Jesus and Veronica

As God's chosen ones we are to show mercy and compassion in our dealings with others. It is our mission to comfort the sorrowing, to put new heart into the disheartened, and to raise the spirits of those we meet.

A woman of courage steps forward to do what no one else dared to do. She wipes away the blood and spittle from his face, and receives in return a precious representation of his features.

Veronica teaches us a priceless lesson: Like her, we must have the fortitude to stand with those who are friendless even though others lack the courage to draw near. At times we must even take a controversial stand which makes us look ridiculous to some.

Prayer
Lord, I praise and thank you for the Veronicas of this world. Help me to speak out on behalf of those who have no voice, even when human respect tempts me to be a coward.
